About the Author
Shit happens. Right? Life happens and, over those years, there are some adversities that knock you down and make you stronger. I wish that was my case!
Over the last 50 years, I think I have accumulated the world’s biggest poop bag! It’s been piling up since I was very young. I honestly let it weigh me down for the longest time, never thinking I had the strength to stand on my own and never believing I was “as good as” everyone else. But then I realized that I didn’t have to try to learn to breathe under the pile. I had the strength within me to climb to the top of it (not in my good shoes, of course!). The view is much different from the top of the dung pile! I learned to just make it through whatever life threw at me next. Set emotion aside for a while and power through. Yes, I would cry in the shower or on a little drive afterward, but I would make it through whatever life decided to fly at me.
As the years passed and my dung mountain elevation increased, I would hear the same thing whenever I recanted my stories. “You can’t make this stuff up!” or “You should write a book!” Well, they all can’t be completely wrong… so now that my kids are grown and taking on adulting like champs, I did it! Up Against the Wall is MY story. From tears of pain of loss and disappointment to tears of joy becoming a mother and other great loves, it recants those times when I was stronger than I ever realized. I learned that I had an incredible inner strength all along. It was that strength that taught me to let go of (some of) my fears and stand tall. And it is that strength that I hope to have passed to my children, and to share with my readers to find theirs.
Up Against the Wall
Up Against the Wall is a brutally honest account of a mother’s fight to acknowledge the strength in herself to stand through some of the toughest circumstances. She stands tall through failed relationships, deceit, physical abuse, rape, and a devastating house fire. Her life has been riddled with bullying, verbal and emotional abuse from a very young age starting with her mother and continuing through most of her relationships and developmental years.
Through all of this, she feels like she is always standing in the darkest corners of the rooms of her life holding onto the walls for stability and strength. She sees herself as weak and always in need of support. She stands in the shadows to avoid being noticed by bullies and others she perceives as predators that lurk in the dark.
This book will especially appeal to women high school age and older. It gives an honest account of real-life events with an inspirational theme, but a novel-type read. Every reader will be able to see themselves in at least one of the many situations encountered in the account and, just when they think she couldn’t have anything more happen, another bomb drops to keep them in suspense until the end.
